TRADOS TRAINING FOR TRANSLATORS

BY TRANSLATORS - Contact us for prices and next dates

Objective

The Trados Suite includes several components:

  • Workbench
  • Winalign
  • TagEditor
  • Multiterm

However, as translators, we mainly use the Workbench, which is only the translation memory database part of the Trados Suite. The three courses are adapted to different knowledge levels of Trados, and they are specially prepared by a translator, for fellow translators. You may want to use only the Workbench, or your client sends you some reference material and you wish you could convert it in a glossary or a reference translation memory. We can learn all this, and more, according to your particular needs.

The three courses are:

1. Beginners Course – An introduction to Trados. One day presentation of the Trados Suite and the basic functions for translators. This format is best suited for translators who do not have Trados but are considering buying it.

2. Intermediate Course – An introduction to Trados and learning the main functions of the complete suite. Two day course. Day One: presentation of the Trados Suite and learning how to use the Workbench. Day Two: learning how to use Winalign, Tag Editor, and Multiterm and how to link all applications in the suite. This format is best suited for translators who have Trados, would like to use it but don't know where to start.

3. Advanced Course – Crash course on all functions of the Trados Suite. One day course. Learning how to use the Workbench, Winalign, Tag Editor and Multiterm. Linking all applications. Useful tips. This format is best suited for translators who have Trados but have only used the Workbench and would like to use the other applications of the Trados Suite.

Facilitator

Our trainer is a freelance translator who uses SDL Trados every day and loves it. She understands the software and how translators should use it and what you need to know to get started and to learn more. She is passionate about translation memory software and her enthusiasm is quite inspiring

Here are some comments from translators who have attended our courses.

  • The pace was just right, giving enough time to "digest" info and imagine problems I am likely to have when I end up on my own in front of my PC.
  • Nice to be in a small group .
  • The trainer was great, patient, able to understand our fears, reassuring, able to simplify things. I now no longer see Trados as a scary beast.
  • I would be very pleased to take part in further training sessions , building on what we've learnt in class and experienced in our own work thereafter.
  • I enjoyed the course enormously and think it will be extremely valuable for future work.
  • The trainer was excellent in every respect and that played a huge part in the overall success of the course.
  • Well satisfied, the deliverer is a natural teacher / purveyor of knowledge and hard-earned experience.
