CLIENT: Doha Asian Games
SECTOR: Sports sector
WORK: On-site Asian interpreting – round the clock, 24 hours a day Chinese, Korean and Japanese
Support provided by Atlas Translations
Atlas Translations won a traditional tender process for this project, the provision of Asian interpreting services round the clock at the Doha Asian Games.
We gathered a team of 25 interpreters, specialising in four languages – English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese – from all over the world and sent them to Qatar to work at the Games. We also arranged flights and visas, and sent a Project Manager to Doha to supervise.
The Games organisers were delighted – “we didn’t worry about a thing when it came to the Atlas team and the 15th Asian Games were a terrific success.”

About Our Client
The 15th Asian Games was held in Doha, Qatar. The Games are Asia’s most important Olympic-style sporting event. Consisting of over 9,000 athletes from 45 member nations over 424 events in 39 sports. It was also the first time that the event had been broadcast on European television, so there was a lot of pressure to get it right.
Our Project Managers were on hand day and night to answer any queries from the Asian Games committee prior to the event. Taking telephone calls at 3am was all part of the job.
Rotas, accommodation, facilities, other issues and daily reports were completed in a timely and professional manner. Despite the intense pressure and long hours, we delivered the level of service the client was promised from the start.
