One of the local charities Atlas Translations is delighted to support is the Counselling Foundation. Their mission is to ensure long term counselling is available to anyone experiencing anxiety, depression or grief. The Counselling Foundation; Atlas Translations; St Albans; London; Clare Suttie

If you live near St Albans, or even if you don’t, you may want to get involved with this fun, family-friendly charity cycle ride in St Albans on Sunday 19 May.

The Counselling Foundation is  one of three chosen beneficiaries in the 25th Anniversary St Albans’ Charity Cycle Ride along with Alzheimer’s Research UK and Secondary First (Cancer Research).

They are reaching out to the community to support this event and challenge themselves to ride 10, 20, 30 or 40 miles and raise money to help more people on low incomes who are experiencing anxiety, depression and grief.

Judy Mallinson, Polar Bear Plunger and tireless fund-raising person over at the Counselling Foundation told us:

“The Foundation has seen a huge increase in demand for counselling over the last three years, following awareness through high profile media campaigns.  However, it is falling to charities like the Foundation to respond to the demand in mental health services.  Funding is vital to ensure financial help is available to support anyone who is unable to pay fully for long term weekly one to one confidential counselling.  Every pound raised through sponsorship will go directly to subsidise weekly counselling sessions.”

9 out of 10 clients say that without this charitable support, they wouldn’t have been able to receive counselling and have a safe space to talk about what is affecting them.

One commented: “I have felt like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  It was great to talk about the problems happening in my life.”

The event will be bigger than ever this year, with an emphasis on a fun day the whole family can enjoy.

Judy would love to hear from you if you would like to get involved – you don’t even have to cycle as they are also looking for volunteers on the day to help with registration and marshalling.

Please visit their website or get in touch with Judy and her fabulous team by email or phone.
