Rhys Stevenson is a recent addition to the Atlas Translations team, having joined us in November 2023 as a project manager.
After studying for his BA in German and Russian, Rhys spent a couple of years teaching in Zurich, where he relished getting acquainted with the various Swiss dialects of German. He then completed a joint master’s degree in German and Comparative Literature at universities in Germany and Scotland; nowadays, he lives in Edinburgh’s seaside suburb, Portobello, which he affectionately likes to call the ‘Costa del Forth’ (it hasn’t caught on).
Rhys put his language skills to good use in the travel sector for a few years, operating school tours across Europe, but made the leap into the translation industry in 2020. As a languages enthusiast, he really enjoys managing clients’ multilingual projects and the international dimension of the project management role – working with linguists from across the globe.
Outside of work, Rhys is a keen theatre-goer and counts himself very lucky to have the Edinburgh Fringe on his doorstep every summer. He also likes getting involved with environmental and LGBTQ+ groups in his community, and volunteers annually at a local pride event.
Despite growing up in Yorkshire – famous for a ‘proper brew’ – Rhys (controversially) prefers a coffee over a cup of tea, but we try not to hold that against him!
