Polly

Tolerant Tabby

Polly

Polly is the quintessential tolerant tabby cat. Similar to her namesake on Fawlty Towers, Polly puts up with Basil’s antics on a daily basis. Basil, who usually means well, is generally confused by Polly.

Being a cat, Polly doesn’t openly show what her hobbies are, but she does collect socks. Much like her ancestors who stalked their prey on the plains of the Serengeti, Polly will stalk her socks. Bringing her kill to her humans to show them how to do it, she leaves the socks on the upstairs landing for all to see.

Polly waits patiently until 3am, then begins to sing the song of her people. Loudly. The shouts from her humans are obvious signs of her success as a hunter and a teacher. Once everyone is awake and alert, Polly settles down for a well-deserved nap.

Anthropological by nature, Polly enjoys science and learning about the environment, so she was pleased to hear about this project for COP 26—read more about our work with them here.
