Translation company offering round-the-clock interpreting in three Asian languages
Atlas Translations won a traditional tender process for this project to provide Asian interpreting services round the clock at the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. The Games are Asia’s most important Olympic-style sporting event, with more than 9,000 athletes from 45 member nations competing over 424 events in 39 sports. This was also the first time the event had been broadcast on European television, so there was a lot of pressure to get it right.
We gathered a team of 25 interpreters, specialising in four languages – English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese – from all over the world and sent them to Qatar to work at the Games. We arranged all flights and visas, and sent a project manager to Doha to supervise.
Dedicated interpreters and project managers on call day and night
Our project managers were on hand day and night to answer any queries from the Asian Games committee prior to the event. Taking telephone calls at 3am was all part of the job.
Rotas, accommodation, facilities, other issues and daily reports were completed in a timely and professional manner. Despite the intense pressure and long hours, we delivered the level of service the client was promised from the start.
