Translation of beauty device marketing and technical information into 11 European languages

SECTOR: Beauty & Wellbeing | WORK: Translation and localisation

Summary

STYLPRO, part of the STYLIDEAS company, invents and launches exciting new devices that regularly take the beauty industry by storm. It’s essential that each product comes with accurate, certified and human-written translations across 11 different European languages for packaging, website copy, user manuals and legal warnings. For two years and counting, they’ve relied on Atlas Translations to deliver them.

How it started

Inventor Tom Pellereau founded STYLPRO after winning the 2011 BBC The Apprentice. Part of the STYLIDEAS company, STYLPRO is a beauty tech brand that’s widely available online and in stores across Europe and beyond. The brand is currently focused on microcurrent devices, red-light products and LED masks (their flagship product), which are both trending categories in the beauty sector.

They had previously tried using AI to generate translations, but were unable to verify that they were accurate. This was also creating contextual issues, leading to unacceptable technical errors in user manuals and legal warnings. So instead, Karen Morris (Senior Design & Development) insisted on using certified and human-based translation services for full confidence in all STYLPRO’s marketing copy and technical and legal notices. After trying out a couple of other agencies, they came to Atlas two-and-a-half years ago, and we’ve been their preferred supplier ever since.

What we did

Every year, STYLPRO needs translation and localisation services for around six or seven products, across 11 European languages. Each product needs packaging, user instructions, technical information, and legal notices. By way of a brief, STYLPRO sends us confidential front-of-pack images and pre-launch product information to enable us to supply accurate and culturally appropriate translations for each product. Having recently shifted to a staggered launch timeline, translations are often needed at the last minute and we’re always happy to accommodate this.

Our first project with STYLPRO went well, and we made minor adjustments to streamline the process and suit the client’s preferences for future projects. Our Project Manager Rhys Stevenson coordinates the team so every project runs smoothly and on schedule, and all translations are returned in the same format as the English source document, making integration easy.

What they say

“Atlas always pulls it out of the bag. The LED masks have been a fantastic success across all European countries, so it’s clear the translations are working well. We really value how the translating team will identify and flag potential issues in the copy we may not have spotted. Rhys and the team are reliable, thorough, and very friendly and accommodating. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.” – Karen Morris, Senior Design & Development, STYLPRO
