Menu Guide is an award-winning online system that’s trusted by hospitality and catering professionals as a one-stop, paper-free allergen and nutrition tool. It enables hospitality clients to create, customise, publish and share their own menus, and it’s fair to say it’s taking off in a big way. With his sights set firmly on breaking new ground in Europe, Menu Guide’s founder needed top-quality, ISO-certified translation services.

How it started
As a brilliant web developer and systems architect, Philip Kenchington is the co-founder of Menu Guide. Our relationship with him started back in 2013 when he built the Atlas Translations website, and we stayed in touch ever since. More recently, he’s been developing Menu Guide, and it’s been so successful that it’s now his primary focus.
In 2021, Menu Guide won a national UK Government award (the Innovation & Technical category at the Office for Product Safety and Standards Regulatory Excellence Awards). This attracted new and extremely high-profile clients, including national stadiums and venues. Menu Guide was gaining ground not only in the UK but also across America and Australia. Philip knew that, to expand the website’s reach and attract clients in the European market, it would need to be translated; initially into French, German and Spanish. So, he came to us for help.
What we did
As project manager, Jim Hearn built a hand-picked team of translators around Menu Guide. The process was rigorous and complex, with no room for discrepancies and plenty of considerations and different contexts to navigate. Throughout, Philip found that our translators were asking lots of great questions for clarification and providing extremely helpful feedback on the site’s navigation etc., and he appreciated our collaborative approach.
The changes are still in the process of being rolled out, but Philip is confident that it will help open Menu Guide up to major venues across mainland Europe.
What they say
“AI may be okay for some translations, but it makes mistakes. When you’re communicating allergens and nutritional information it has to be 100% accurate, because lives are at risk. If you have to be certain it’s correct, then Atlas Translations is the only way to go. The team is really professional, they all exude trustworthiness, and they‘re also a really fun bunch of people. They get the job done, and leave you with a smile on your face. I’m more than happy to recommend them.” – Philip Kenchington, Co-Founder – Menu Guide
